Abstract

In 2003, the Berlin band “Wir sind Helden” [“We are Heroes”] topped the music charts with intelligent and witty German song titles and went on to become one of Germany's most successful bands. In the 1990s, young German bands began writing more and more of their lyrics in German, instead of English, and became increasingly successful doing so. This photo shows the members of “Wir sind Helden” – Mark Tavassol, Pola Roy, Jean-Michel Tourette, and Judith Holofernes (from left to right) – in a Berlin café.
