Abstract

Berlin wasn't the only place where the opening of the border was celebrated. In numerous cities and towns throughout the Federal Republic, West German citizens greeted their "brothers and sisters" from the East like long-lost relatives. Below is a group of people who gathered in downtown Lübeck to welcome visitors arriving from East Germany.
