Abstract

This scene depicts the secular coronation banquet for Francis I (r. 1745-65). It took place in the Great Hall of Frankfurt’s “Römer” and was attended by numerous dignitaries. One of Frankfurt’s oldest buildings, the “Römer” had been used for imperial coronation banquets since 1562.
