Abstract

This Parisian caricature of Prussian King Wilhelm I – “S.S. Guillaume-le-Boucher” – is by the French artist A. Belloguet and dates from 1870. Among other references, it associates Wilhelm with “the law of the sword” and the death of fraternal relations among nations. The dream of a “united states of Europe” mentioned in the text at the bottom has disappeared in the midst of war.
