Abstract

In the photograph below, taken only a few months before his death in 1919, the liberal politician Friedrich Naumann (standing in front of pillar) speaks out against the Versailles Treaty and the terms of peace set by the victors. Naumann served in the Reichstag from 1908 until 1918 and co-founded the German Democratic Party [Deutsche Demokratische Partei, DDP] in 1918.
