Abstract

"Only harmony will lead us to the goal toward which we are striving." This 1848 lithograph features two leaders of the protest movement in Baden: Friedrich Hecker (1811–1881), shown in the center left, and Gustav Struve (1805–1870), next to him on the right. Hecker is dressed in "revolutionary" costume and holds the republican flag; Struve is also portrayed in anti-bourgeois clothing.
