Abstract

These photographs show the writer and Nobel Prize laureate Heinrich Böll addressing a crowd at the October 1981 peace demonstration in Bonn—the largest peace rally in the Federal Republic at the time. Böll supported the movement against NATO rearmament and took part in a sit-in blockade at the U.S. missile base in Mutlangen in 1983.
