Abstract

At the beginning of the 1980s, NATO’s Dual-Track Decision sparked fears of nuclear war in many European countries. On October 10, 1981, 250,000–300,000 people gathered in Bonn to protest the decision. Although the participants represented various political groups, they displayed a remarkable degree of solidarity and were determined to make the demonstration a peaceful one.
