Soccer was a popular sport in Wilhelmine Germany. Private clubs established networks of teams within cities or regions, and these teams, in turn, came together to form leagues. This photograph shows a 1907 match between “SC Tasmania 1900 Berlin” and “Berlin Sportclub.” “Tasmania,” which was founded in the Neukölln district of Berlin, still holds the record for being the least successful team in the history of German competitive soccer.
