Abstract

The conservative election coalition “Alliance for Germany,” which was composed of Democratic Awakening (DA), the German Social Union (DSU), and the CDU (East), tries to solicit votes for the upcoming East German Volkskammer elections on March 18, 1990, by promising freedom and prosperity based on the West German model. The Alliance was the clear winner with 48% of the vote; within the Alliance, the CDU garnered the largest portion of the vote.

The poster reads: “No More Socialism. Yes [to] Freedom and Prosperity. Alliance for Germany. DA. DSU. CDU.”
