In 2021, Daimler AG was the second-largest German automaker and the sixth-largest automobile producer globally. The central headquarters are located in Untertürkheim near Stuttgart, while the largest manufacturing plant in Germany is in Sindelfingen. Mercedes is competing with BMW and Audi for the reputation as the leading luxury brand of German automobiles. While Mercedes announced in 2021 that it would go all electric by 2030, it adjusted these projections and announced that its fleet would be 50% electric by 2030.
