Abstract

Depictions of Jews as sexual predators increased in number and coarseness in the Wilhelmine age. This antisemitic caricature by Adolf Münzer titled “Monsieur le directeur” appeared in the satirical magazine Simplicissimus in 1899. The caption reads: “Your work is not satisfactory, you will probably be let go on the first of the month. You can get the final decision tonight in my apartment.”
