Abstract

In July 1866, this hospital facility was established in Leipzig’s Gymnastics Hall in an effort to cope with the huge influx of casualties from the battlefields of Bohemia during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. The woodcut is based on a drawing by H. Heine.
