From 1935 on, the National Socialist press, under the direction of the propaganda ministry, carried out a regular campaign of harassment and defamation against the Catholic Church and its doctrines. Here is one example taken from the Nazi weekly newspaper Der Stürmer. According to this caricature, it is the “Jewish devil” himself who feeds criticisms of the Nazi regime to Catholic priests.
