Abstract

During the night of February 13, 1945, the city of Dresden was hit by the heaviest Allied air strike of the war. Enormous quantities of explosives and fire bombs led to an estimated 40,000 civilian deaths and left the inner city almost completely destroyed. Photo by Carl Weinrother.
