Abstract

In the 1950s, automobiles (especially the new small cars like the Volkswagen Beetle or the BMW Isetta) became increasingly popular means of transportation for day trips and vacation travel. In the photograph below, Marion Günther, an acquaintance of the photographer Friedrich Seidenstücker, leans against the door of a VW Beetle during an outing to Berlin's Grunewald.
