Abstract

Many observers blamed the Springer publishing house for the assassination attempt on student activist Rudi Dutschke, since its publications had fomented a blaze of hatred against the student movements and its leaders. To denounce the domination of the media by conservative forces, demonstrators tried to prevent the delivery of Springer newspapers, including the popular tabloid BILD-Zeitung. Here, police protect the Springer headquarters in Hamburg during the so-called Springer Blockade.
