Abstract

This 1926 portrait of art historian, critic, and photographer Franz Roh (1890-1965) was taken by Lucia Moholy, who became known for her Bauhaus photography. Roh’s work Post-Expressionism-Magical Realism: Problems of New European Painting [Nach-Expressionismus - Magischer Realismus: Probleme der neuesten europäischen Malerei] (1925), introduced the term “Magical Realism” into modern art theory.
