Abstract

In response to the PISA results, Minister of Education and Research Edelgard Bulmahn (SPD) proposed a 4 billion Euro federal program to facilitate the expansion of all-day schooling.

This photograph shows Bulmahn visiting an all-day program in the newly expanded Cäcilien Elementary School in Berlin-Wilmersdorf in December 2003. This school was one of the first new all-day facilities to profit from the federal government’s “Future, Education and Care” [Zukunft, Bildung und Betreuung] program.
