In the course of the 2021 Bundestag elections, Alliance 90/The Greens, the SPD and FDP agreed on the coalition agreement for the 20th legislative period of the Bundestag. Based on the votes of this so-called traffic light coalition, Olaf Schulz was elected Chancellor of the 24th Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2021.
