Abstract

This photograph of Wilhelm Liebknecht (1826–1900) was taken ca. 1895. Beginning in the mid-1860s, Liebknecht was a close associate of August Bebel in the Saxon People’s Party and the German Social Democratic Party. For many years he was the principal populizer of Karl Marx’s ideas in Germany.
