The series "Diesseits und jenseits der Zonengrenze" was a current affairs broadcast developed by the NDR regional program, which reported on current affairs from the GDR and the Soviet sphere of influence from a northern German perspective. The program strove for objectivity - from a Western perspective - hoping to appeal to GDR viewers. The contributions mostly consisted of commentated recordings from GDR television, as in this program about the forced collectivization of agriculture in the GDR.
