Abstract

A few years after the end of the war, normal everyday life had returned, above all in suburbs and peripheral areas that had escaped damage and in city neighborhoods that had gradually been rebuilt. In the photograph below, which was taken in the affluent neighborhood of Steglitz in West Berlin in 1950, we see a well-dressed woman walking her dog while pushing a modern baby stroller.
