Abstract

Johann Philipp Palm (1768-1806) was a German nationalist executed by French troops during the Napoleonic Wars. A bookseller, Palm was accused of distributing texts advocating for German unification and resistance to the French. Palm was executed following a brief trial. Other German nationalists viewed him as a martyr.
