Abstract

The predecessor of the famous "Trabi," the model "P 70," was the first car with duroplast paneling to be mass produced in the GDR. The model went into full-scale production in 1955. The improved "Trabant P 50" was introduced in 1957, and production of the "P 70" ceased entirely in 1959. This photograph shows a "P 70" built in Zwickau on display on Stalinalle (later renamed Karl-Marx-Allee) in Berlin.
