Abstract

In response to growing unemployment among young people, the Confederation of German Trade Unions (DGB) organized a demonstration on April 1, 1975, in support of the Vocational Training Act [Berufsbildungsgesetz] proposed by the social-liberal coalition. Here, a Frankfurt demonstrator takes aim at the president of the German confederation of employers, Hanns Martin Schleyer, who took a tough stance in collective wage-bargaining disputes. The sign can be translated as: “Schleyer is his name, stealing from apprentices is his game.”
