Abstract

This postcard comes from the same series as the previous one. Postcards were usually sold in series of six, and images in a series generally shared a common subject. Thus, it makes sense that both of these postcards were sent to Christine Roller by the same solider, Lieutenant Max Kessler.

The postcard reads as follows:

3.4.17 (Postmark April 3, 1917)

Dear Nurse Christine!
Sending you many heartfelt Easter greetings.
Your Max Kessler (Lieutenant)

From: Second Lieutenant Kessler
Bavarian Mobile Command Post
German Forces Mail 402

Street in Lille Following the Explosion on January 11, 1916 (April 3, 1917)
